PDP Primaries: Binta Bello defeat serving Senator Lidani, deputy governor

A deputy minority whip of the House of Representatives, Fatima Binta Bello has defeated a serving Senator, Joshua Lidani to emerge as senatorial candidate of the PDP in Gombe-South senatorial district.

Binta polled 293 votes to beat Senator Lidani who scored 129 votes, deputy governor of the state, Mr Charles Iliya 12 votes, Yusuf Manu 21 and Hassan Ahmadu Haruna 22 votes.

Sen. Uzodinma beats Okorocha’s in-law to APC’s guber ticket

Senator Hope Uzodinma has defeated Governor Rochas Okorocha’s in-law, Uche Nwosu to win the All Progressive Party’s gubernatorial ticket for next year’s election.

Senator Uzodinma polled 423,895 votes to pick the party’s ticket in the election conducted on Tuesday.

Nwosu came seventh with just 10, 329 votes.

The result was signed by the returning officer, Ahmed Ali Gulak.

Meanwhile, Daily Trust correspondent reported that Gulak has disappeared after declaring the winner of the primary election in the state.

Engr. Abdullahi Sule Emerges Winner of Keenly Contested APC Primary Election in Nasarawa State

Joshua Ojito, Lafia: A technocrat, Engr Abdullahi Sule today with 10 other aspirants emerged the winner of a keenly contested APC Primary Election in Nasarawa state.

He defeated ten other Aspirants haven pulled 926 votes.

Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Abdullahi Candido announced Engr Sule as the winner while declaring the result of the Election today 1st of october 2018 in Lafia.

He notes that Engr Sule met the requirement of the party’s constitution in electing the flagbearer haven pulled the majority of votes cast.

President Buhari condemns latest violence in Jos

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned violence in Jos which led to the imposition of a curfew in the Plateau state capital.

President Buhari said;“I am deeply worried about the seeming indifference to the sanctity of life by criminals whose hearts are hardened by evil.”

Achieving peace
The President recalled that through the last three and a half years of the present administration in the state, the government had worked very hard with various communities and clearly demonstrated that a lasting peace can be achieved.
